Our Story
Harrison Hills farm is a primary resource to the New York Metropolitan Region Foodshed. We revitalize economic growth and spur community by cultivating the land, providing resources and opportunities for the people of this important foodshed.
The farm is approximately 65 acres of woodland in Great Barrington, MA, part of the Southern Berkshire Mountains. It is comprised of trees such as white pine, white ash, red maple, hemlock, scattered sugar maple, birch of all colors, black cherry, aspen, red and white oak, American elm and shagbark hickory.
The land supplies the watershed of the Housatonic river and the foodshed of New York City. The stream on the land runs south to Lake Buel, then the Konapat River, and to the Housatonic River, which eventually drains into the Long Island Sound of New York and then the North Atlantic Ocean.
